Oil on masonite painting of industrial dockside scene, 15" by 19" and 1 3/4" of liner and frame, signed at lower left and dated "58". The artist is a significant figure in the Uruguayan art scene, having studied in the Taller Torres Garcia (Jose Torres Garcia, the major Uruguayan artist), and with Jose Gurvich, Julio Alpuy, and Augusto Torres. He traveled in Europe and has been exhibited in museums in Latin America, Spain, and Italy. Note the use of baby blue and yellow, which are emblematic of the flag of Uruguay. There's a long biography of this Latin American painter affixed to the reverse. I'd send this to Uruguay or Venezuela for sale but the economic and political instability persuaded me to keep this up here for the time being. No doubt, in Montevideo, this would bring a premium price. If you are in South America, contact me first. .
