Pastel and charcoal on gray paper, 17 1/2" by 11 1/2" plus narrow wood frame, signed at lower right with conjoined initials "VG", which corresponds to the name of the artist Vinnie Gjere. I was able to figure out the authorship due to there being a companion piece on my site, also a still life and purchased at the same time as this one; that piece is not signed on the front but on the reverse in pencil is "Vinnie Gjere". I might have the spelling just a bit off on that last name but I've tried different combinations and can't find a listing. This work is in excellent shape with just slight pastel dust transfer to glass. Ideally it should be reframed in a professional way so that there's a mat to ensure it doesn't touch the glass directly. I would judge age as pre World War 2. There's a pencil inscription on remains of framing paper adhering to frame, saying, "For Jim Pastel & charcoal about 1919 at N. N. D.". At least I think that's the date, the third digit is unclear. Certainly though this has age and is in the Arts and Crafts style. A quality addition to any home or office. The companion piece should be easy to find within my shop, let me know if you have trouble finding it. .
