For the collector of botanical drawings and art, here's a nice unframed 11 7/8" by 9 3/8" floral watercolor drawing highlighted with a little gum arabic in the nineteenth century tradition. It's not signed, but I think at lower left in old faint pencil it says "yellow aralia", and at bottom, very faint and barely visible, there is a lot of illegible pencil writing. This probably dates to the 1860's to 1880's period. As such, it is not in perfect shape; but it's in good enough shape to be appreciated and enjoyed, once properly framed. The paper is browned in spots, slightly soiled in others, foxed in others, and there are two dig areas, one small at very lower stem tip, and another at upper right near the edge. The new owner could tightly crop this with a mat, which would hide many of the various imperfections; or, the purist can frame it less tightly, to keep the faint pencil inscriptions at bottom. This is just a nice example of Victorian still life art. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY RUBY LANE SHOP.
