A beautiful, impressive synthetic polymer on canvas painting of the so-called "Seven Sisters" stars of the Pleiades constellation of the night sky near Taurus the Bull, painted in the traditional dot and swirls pattern of Australian aboriginal art, by GABRIELLA POSSUM-NUNGARRAYI (1967-), the eldest daughter of famed Australian aboriginal artist Clifford Possum-Tjepaltjarri. The 29 1/2" by 43 1/2" work (32" by 45" in a contemporary black frame) is signed on the reverse, where it is titled "Milky Way - Seven Sisters Dreaming", and dated there 2018. Nungarrayi was taught from an early age by her famous father, one of whose works brought two million Australian dollars at auction in 2007. By 1985 Gabriella was already a noted talent, winning the Alice Springs Art Award. She has exhibited all over Australia, and internationally, and her works are in the National Gallery of Australia and at other museums all over the country. Her highest price at auction is approximately $31,000 (2008). This work is in pristine fresh condition. Note the subtle hidden colors; this is not just a gray-black painting.
