A really nicely done watercolor on heavy watercolor paper, the subject a New York Central Park view, the artist evidently looking south across a lake towards the famous San Remo Apartments residential building with its distinctive towers. Signed at lower right in Asian (Chinese?) characters and with red artist seal there, also signed and stamped again on the reverse side, where it is titled "Evening at Central Park #13" and dated March 31, 2008. The watercolor is of high quality and obviously by a talented artist. Measures 11 1/4" by 7 1/4" and 18" by 14" as framed. Frame has some wear. Pink mat may need to be replaced as the art has slipped out of it and then once it was out, the multiple mats glued themselves pretty much together.
The San Remo was designed by architect Emery Roth, and construction began in 1929. The San Remo was one of the first buildings in New York City to include twin-towered apartment blocks, taking advantage of recently passed zoning regulations at the time. Today it is one of the most sought-after and expensive apartment buildings in New York, with units typically ranging from a minimum of $3 million up to a high of $75 million. Over the years, numerous celebrities and high-profile figures have owned units here, Steven Spielberg, Tiger Woods, Steve Jobs, Bruce Willis, Rita Hayworth, Bono, and many others.
