An antique oil on gray board painting of a foreground pond, marsh with haystacks, and distant village including church spire, in bucolic mountain landscape, 10" by 14", (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" in likely original old gold frame), signed at lower right "JCW". The circa 1890 work could be something like White Mountain School (New England), or northeast American, or possibly even English. I believe but cannot be certain that it is most likely American. Condition is good for the age, with normal soiling and yellowed varnish; a cleaning would be beneficial but not mandatory. I have research a bit, but not extensively, the initials; to date, I am unable to attach this to a known artist.
American or English late 19th century landscape painting signed JCW
