A fine portrait of a handsome young boy of about 10, watercolor on paper (possibly some mixed media charcoal?), 16 1/2" by 12 1/4" (22" by 17 1/4" frame), signed at upper left "Margaret Downey Savage" and dated there 1915. The well-dressed young man seems to be of an upper class family; this was perhaps a commissioned portrait. I do not see information on the artist. The work was found in Santa Barbara, California. The frame is very attractive and has value on its own; rabbet size is 17" by 13". On the reverse is one half of a gallery label of the period.
