A lithograph with coloring, 1865, titled "John Grant/Her Majesty's Head Keeper Balmoral", by noted Scottish artist KENNETH MacLEAY (1802-1878). MacLeay, at a young age, became one of the original members of the Royal Scottish Academy, in 1826. His delicate and skilled work attracted the attention of Queen Victoria, and the artist created a number of images for her. He was noted for his fine portrait miniatures on ivory. This print measures 19" by 13 1/2" inside the mat opening and 30 3/4" by 25 1/4" framed. Condition is generally very good, with just a small area of brownish discoloration at upper left. The frame exhibits some wear, especially at bottom, and the green silk mat is rumpled at bottom as well.
