Something of a mystery piece......a black and white photo, 12 5/8" by 11" including thin margins on three sides, (in a temporary protective-only frame), unsigned and unattributed, in a frame which bears old Christie's Los Angeles photo department sale and lot information that does not correspond with the image (I checked with Christie's photographs dept). The image of the moving train is in black and white though there is a hint of a pink/violet tint in a portion of the train sides. I am not a photographs specialist but this does seem to be on heavy photo paper so I believe but cannot be sure that it is an original printed from a negative. There is no writing seen after I peered at the reverse side (only taped at edges here and there) and the paper is definitely newer, and not from the 1940's. So whether a more recent printing from an old negative, or some kind of other reproductive process, I cannot be sure. What is certain is that the image is interesting and definitely historical. Trimmed a bit crudely at top edge, and there are a few other minor flaws I'd be happy to describe.
