Watercolor on paper painting of an old wooden church of northern New Mexico, signed at lower right by artist ROSS PAXTON (1931-2003). The painting is very impressionistic. Paxton was born in rural northeast Oregon and went to college in Albuquerque, and later received more art education in New York City. After serving in the Korean War, Paxton remained in New York for much of his life, an illustrator for YCNR ad agency, and handled major accounts. Measurements are 11" by 15" and 20" by 24 1/2" as nicely framed. The reddish rectangles in sky are unexplained; might be that the artist considered this just a sketch and executed it on paper he had already somewhat used!
