A popular image after the 1989 painting, "Hancock Street, West Hollywood", by the famous British artist and his interpretation of his adopted Southern California scene, DAVID HOCKNEY (1937-). This print (29 1/4" by 18 3/4", and 36" by 25 1/2" framed) is after the rather small (16 1/2" by 10 1/2") original painting of 1989 by the artist, which is in a private collection. The present print is not a "dot" print but a lithographic process with quality, rich color. A study of the print indicates it might be by Mirage Editions of Santa Monica; many seem to show the name David Hockney centered at bottom, where there is a large margin (and other margins all around). So I am somewhat uncertain as to what this example, sans margins might be----in any event it is a very decorative work featuring a well known area of Los Angeles. The sheet is very clean and fresh.
