A 19th century English oil on canvas painting, 23" by 36", (offered unframed, even if the inappropriate style frame shows in the images), apparently unsigned, the subject the Edinburgh to London Royal Mail coach pulled by four horses, as it passes through a town. The work is in the style made famous by English artist Charles Cooper Henderson (1803-1877). The handsome coach, staffed by two coachmen, is shown in considerable detail. The painting's classical style will be attractive to those seeking to add a painting in a traditional interior. It has acquired a few scars in deference to its 150 years of age. There are two areas of inpainting, one very small at upper left, a larger area at far right, several tiny punctures that could be easily repaired, and stretcher bar show-through/some looseness of the canvas. These issues are commonly encountered with nineteenth century paintings.
