Impressionist still life of various kinds of colorful flowers in a decorative blue and white pitcher set on a cloth-covered table, the background a neutral light blue, 28 1/2" by 22 1/4" unframed (though a frame in which it was found could be available), signed at upper left by listed American artist HELEN CAUDLE WINSLOW (1916-2008). The work is painted on paper, with oil, a difficult technique to master. Condition is excellent. Winslow was born in North Carolina and studied with Robert Brackman at the Art Students League in New York. She arrived in Los Angeles in 1951, studying further at Otis Art Institute. Today Winslow is known for her impressionist still life, works with figures, portraits and landscapes. She died in Carmel, CA in 2008 in her nineties.
