A contemporary oil on canvas painting of a handsome rooster, in the style of a traditional Chinese watercolor scroll painting, approximately 23" by 23" in black strip frame, with Chinese calligraphy at top left and right and one red artist seal. The work is by a competent hand. I am told by a Chinese reader that the family name of the artist is "Zhang" but cannot provide any more information other than the perhaps circa 1970's or 1980's New York framer's sticker. (And, oddly, this was found in Washington State on the Canadian border). The canvas is a bit loose and uneven, and there is craquelure especially on the left half of the composition, as well as a small pressure dimple, almost a cut, in the dark breast area of the rooster. That is completely lost in the composition.
