A large (22" by 36", and 32" by 45" framed) panoramic landscape painting of a volcano of the Northwest, possibly Mount Hood in Oregon, signed at lower right with what appears as "Dorring" or "Topping" or similar. The work is in the style of Eliza Barchus, who had many students. The painting could have been painted by Barchus herself, perhaps; I believe I read she did use pseudonyms. The late 19th century work on canvas has acquired some tears which will need to be repaired. Also the dry surface will need to be cleaned. The investment in restoration will be rewarded as the underlying painting is beautiful. The original frame has some losses which again could likely be restored.
