A sixteenth century woodcut print featuring a seated man at left, (who appears to be Jesus), preaching to a large medieval-looking crowd in a landscape of distant hilltops and regal tents. On the reverse is printing in old German. This is most likely cut from an old Bible. The print measures 4 1/2" by 5 7/8" (9 3/4" by 11 3/4" in attractive gold framing). At upper left it appears that a piece was missing so another piece was cut from somewhere else to "patch" the missing area. It actually takes some looking to notice what transpired; photos of the back can give some insight into the old "repair". Most photos were taken through non-glare glass which dulls detail.
