Oil on canvas, 18" by 13" (27" by 23" framed), of a nude-appearing man holding a fish, signed at lower right by noted Florida artist FRANZ JOSEF BOLINGER (1903-1986). The artist has masterfully worked with paint with a palette knife. Aqua-blue/turquoise color in background seems very Floridian. The work came from a collection of art personally owned by music industry icon Seymour Stein (credited with discovering The Ramones, Madonna, and other major vocal artists.) This is only the second example by Bolinger I have ever owned/seen. He is said to have obsessively painted the Everglades, his favorite subject, to the tune of 1,000 paintings, but they do seem to be only rarely seen in the marketplace. The painting is in excellent condition. Frame shows a little wear.
