A large (32" by 44" as framed) acrylic on heavy canvas, the subject a Victorian gingerbread-style Key West house with luxuriant tropical foliage in the foreground, signed at lower right and dated 1999 at lower right, by noted American contemporary artist JEANETTE CHUPACK. The work is titled on reverse affixed tag "Key West Porch Garden", and the original $4,300 price is written nearby. That information is repeated on the stretcher itself, and interestingly, crossed out on the stretcher, is "Tulip Walk, Edgartown/$3,500"---giving some indication of the artist's other paintings subjects. Chupack hailed from Vermont and painted and taught there for many years before moving to Cape Coral in Southwest Florida. The artist received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University and a master's degree at Indiana University. She employs photography and other technology as assistants in her quest to create just the right painting with the right detail, light and composition. Chupack's subjects range from landscape, animals/wildlife, to figures, still life (floral and otherwise), window views, and portraits. Her fine original work is sold through fine commercial galleries at prices up to $7,000, while giclee reproductions are also available. American Artist magazine ran an article dedicated to Chupack and her work in January 2010. This example is in beautiful fresh, clean condition and is ready for the wall. The artist has employed unusually high quality canvas and stretchers to ensure that the art endures over time. Most viewers would assume this is a print, but they would be very wrong. It is an amazing, impressive original work in immaculate as-new condition. See the artist's website for more information. E
