A whimsical, impressionist city scene painting, featuring a street and low-rise older buildings, a horse-drawn cart at center, a man in foreground waving at the departing party. The oil on panel work is signed at lower left and again on reverse "J. N. Gleria". The artist is the younger brother of artist Angelo Gleria (1918-1991), and the work bears some similarity to those of Angelo. The seller from whom I purchased this said it came from Argentina---and the daughter of the artist has contacted me to confirm the work is from, and depicts, Argentina. She stated that Gleria ("Dad")
painted his homeland of Argentina. She further said it can be assumed his scenes are of the Entre Rios Province, Patagonia, or Buenos Aires areas of the South American nation. Measurements are 25" by 31" as framed. Condition is very good. A wider, brighter gold frame would really "pop" this painting.
