A handsome and striking metal wall sculpture created from stainless steel and a uniquely patinated copper inset central portion, 24" by 24" by 2" overall, from the ARC Series, by noted American gallery artist JEFFREY JON GLUCK. The patinated portion gives the impression of the complex natural surface of a granite countertop or other polished surface with porphyry inclusions. There is a label on the reverse with the title "Arc Series #6", and the artist signed his linked initials with the burnishing tool in the metal nearby. The New York City native, now in his seventies, lives near Redding in Northern California, producing contemporary pieces for sale at select western galleries. Works are offered at $4,000 to $8,000 and possibly more. Gluck graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Arizona in 1969. This piece may have been owned at one time by Nancy Sinatra (Nancy Barbato born 1917), the first wife of Frank Sinatra, who he divorced in 1951 in favor of Ava Gardner. There is writing in block lettering on the labels: "Nancy Sinatra on your 86th [therefore corresponding to the year 2003], thanks for being our mom too! Jeff & Pam". Nearby on another label is "Mother dearest---Teddy/Happy 90th birthday Love Jeffrey". The previous owner stated that he acquired this from an estate sale in Claremont, California about 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Condition is excellent overall, with some small abrasion of the metal from handling, at right edge. The work weighs a solid 12 pounds. See the artist's website with an explanation of his complex artistic philosophies, taking from traditional eastern thinking.
