A fine little watercolor painting of a Vienna street scene, 4 3/4" by 6" (16" by 18 1/2" in attractive wood frame), signed at lower right by the noted artist FERI FERDINAND SCHWARZ (1869-1923). The scene is titled at lower left "WIEN--FASSZIEHERGASSE". The artist has worked at least seven tiny figures into the scene----mother and daughter at right, three children at center, with hoop, and two elderly figures. Schwarz was born in present-day Russia but is associated today with his works focusing on Viennese street scenes, and some country views in Austria. The small size is typical of his works, which sell readily at auctions such as Dorotheum in Vienna. The architectural detail is impressive and typical of Schwarz's works. This example is in excellent condition, and, in fact, the detail is even more impressive than is seen in the photos, which were taken through the non-glare style cloudy glass.
