A large clean lithograph print in the advanced naive style of acclaimed Jewish artist SHALOM OF SAFED (SHALOM MOSKOWITZ), 1895-1980. The imagery is colorful and comprehensive, featuring blue sky with clouds, architecture, figures, animals, and interiors, along with embedded messages in Hebrew. The Hassidic artist was a watchmaker by trade, and only late in life turned to his artistic talents. His original paintings have brought into five figures. He lived in Safed in the Galilee Hills for most of his life. Safed was known as a center for Jewish mysticism, and a cultural center and magnet for many artists. This print is pencil signed by the artist at bottom right and is an artist's proof "A.P." (see lower left margin). It is clean, protected behind Plexi. There is a New Orleans gallery label (Nahan Gallery) on the backing. The print measures 29 3/4" by 22 1/4" (38" by 30 1/2" in gold metal framing).
