A clean etching featuring a pair of adorable black Scottish Terriers, signed at lower right in pencil by the renowned twentieth century German dog and cat and other animal artist, KURT MEYER-EBERHARDT (1895-1977). The artist was born in Leipzig and died in Munich. In the late 1920's he was studying with Theodor Hagen and Lyonel Feininger, and could have ascended to the highest levels of the art world. He however chose to pursue his love of depicting domestic and other animals. Today he is regarded as one of the finest dog artists of the 20th century. A number of restrikes and posthumous images have been made, many from the original plates, but these are lifetime impressions hand signed by the artist himself. A copyright symbol appears in the lower left corner of the print. Hanfstaengl published the artist's prints for many decades. The print measures 9 1/4" by 12 1/4" (14" by 17" framed). E
