A poetic impressionist work circa late 1950's or early 1960's, featuring the famous, storied Moulin Rouge nightclub in the Montmartre district of Paris, signed at lower right "Fantin". The 20" by 15" painting (23" by 21" in frame) is quite atmospheric, the colors of the buildings, figures and cars standing out on this leaden, overcast winter day. The scene has been painted countless times by artists famous and not-so-famous; this example is quite respectable. Other than light crazing in upper left sky, condition is excellent. The frame can be retained if one doesn't look too carefully, as there are some chip losses in various spots.
