An example of a very scarce and desirable poster, issued in 1977 in Glendale, California, featuring a montage of images of Johnny Weissmuller (1904-1984), the actor who famously played the role of Tarzan in the series of movies between 1932 and 1948. Weissmuller signed in magic marker at lower center, and the piece is numbered 976/1500 at lower right. Weissmuller was an Olympic gold swimmer in the 1920's, and he brought the athletic physique to Hollywood, with lasting impact. He appeared in other productions as well but is of course remembered today for the Tarzan role. Late in life he was a successful businessman. He passed away about seven years after signing this series of 1500 numbered and 50 unnumbered copies of this poster. A rare opportunity for the movie buff to acquire a tangible link to one of Hollywood's iconic, timeless acting legends. Condition appears excellent. Not examined out of the glass and thin metal strip frame. Will be removed however for inspection and shipping, (shipping figures are based on its being rolled in a tube). It would be unsafe to ship such a large sheet of glass, and the poster needs to be properly framed with some space between it and the glass. Measures 30" by 24". Condition is excellent; smudge at lower left is on glass only; allow for some reflections in some images.
