A charming watercolor painting of the coastline at Antibes on the French Riviera, 11" by 14 1/2" (16 1/2" by 19 1/4" framed), signed at lower left by artist A. Pinkey and bearing inscription on backing giving the history of the artwork. The inscription reads "Shirley keep/Aunt Amy Pinkey painted this of the Cote d'Azur when she and I spent 6 weeks at Antibes Hotel de Paclette (sp.?) in 1919 (S. recovering from flu. pneumonia) in A.L.A." The artist was apparently just an amateur but she created a pleasant work that evokes the beauty of the famed Antibes coastline, painted by the likes of Monet, who was still alive in 1919. Note the lone figure with sun umbrella at lower left by the signature. Clouds gather near the tops of the brooding mountains. The work is in excellent condition for being about 100 years old. There are reflections in some of the images.
