An aquatint print of sporting dogs in the field (likely retrievers or spaniels), pencil signed in the lower left margin by noted French artist LEON DANCHIN (1887-1938). Danchin remains known today for his drawings of animals, and for precisely these fine prints, featuring primarily sporting dogs. Danchin was also a sculptor. He was born in Lille and remained in northern France for most of his life. At the peak of his career, prints were sold in France, Belgium, the United States, and England. This work (16" by 23 3/4", and 26" by 34" framed) is in excellent, fresh condition. A thread that has strayed from the liner is seen under the glass at right. Allow for a few reflections in the images.
