Original lithograph in colors, on smooth wove paper, "Stars" (French version was known as "Etoiles"), 1938, after a gouache by the well-known important Russian modern artist WASSILY KANDINSKY (1866-1944). This print, signed at lower left in the stone with Kandinsky's "K" monogram, was published by Teriade, Paris, for publication in the French avant-garde magazine Verve. The edition, printed by Mourlot, consisted of approximately 2000 or 2500 impressions. This example is in good condition though I believe the colors are faded (by comparison to online images). On the reverse is the title, "Lithography by Kandinsky", and images of the constellations. The sheet measures 13 7/8" by 10 1/4" and is unframed.
