Oil on canvas laid on a card, unstretched, signed at lower right corner "C Vianello". The subject is an older lady seated in a darkened interior, obviously deep in thought. The work measures 13" by 10 1/4". It is sorely in need of some restoration, as it was laid long ago on a card which is now bent and cracked. The surface though stable is dry, and there is soiling and no varnish present. A restorer could likely avoid the higher expense of totally removing the work from the card, by simply cleaning it, at which point it could be framed and enjoyed. This could be a study for a more detailed work. There are two Cesare Vianello's listed, one who did Venetian scenes, some of which have exceeded $20,000 at auction, and another with birth/death dates as 1803-1895. There is a possibility that these are one and the same artist. A well-executed 19th century study of a woman.
