More than 10 detailed, fine pen and ink drawings, on one sheet measuring 19 3/4" by 16", most featuring male figures, signed at upper left center with what appears as "Al Wiles" or "Al Wales" or similar. There does not seem to be any link to a listed artist unless I am misinterpreting the signature. The style of the drawing takes from Jose Luis Cuevas, a little bit of Surrealism in spots from Salvador Dali, and Eugene Berman. The pen work is impressive up close. The drawing came from a home filled with major Northwestern American art of the Seattle School including Kenneth Callahan, George Tsutakawa, Paul Horiuchi and John Matsudaira. This could be of the Northwest, or, it could be unrelated. There seems to have been an old water drip (goes through the figure at far right) and some brown staining comes through from the backing (there is actually an old photo glued there----looks as if the artist might have been hard up and was re-using paper). An interesting and unusual drawing.
