Soft wood (probably pine) carved shore bird decoy, likely 19th century, with authentic wear including missing paint, pellet holes, and broken off beak. The work measures approximately 9 1/2" by 6" extreme dimensions, not including the wood base. The eyes appear to be metallic tacks. I am not a decoy specialist but wonder if this might be by any recognized carver. A great piece of folk art Americana.
