PAIR of large colorful woodcut prints, each pencil signed by the important contemporary Greek artist ALECOS (also known as Alexandre) FASSIANOS (1935-). The circa 1970's works measure approximately 25" by 38" each. One is numbered 37/50, the other 24/50 (under mat). The paper used is like rice paper---very thin and pliable, delicate. These were acquired in metal frames under glass. Now offered unframed. The prints are lightly adhering to backing, with dabs of adhesive at points along the edges, but they are not laid down. The old mats have been clumsily placed on top of the print, but they could be carefully teased away should you wish to start fresh with all-new acid-free framing materials. There are some imperfections such as light ripples and creases, natural paper imperfections, and a foxing spot or two, but essentially they are very clean and presentable. Fassianos was born in Athens and is internationally known as one of Greece's best-known contemporary artists. In 2007 a painting exceeded $800,000 at auction, and many have exceeded $100,000. The artist studied in Athens and by 1960 was in Paris studying lithography. The prolific artist still considers Paris to be one of his homes, though in more recent years he has been found working in Athens. Graphically a very strong pair of images, complementary to many types of interiors. **WILL CONSIDER SELLING THE PRINTS INDIVIDUALLY**
