An exceptionally rendered study of a common woodland stick, signed at upper right "T. Peterson" and dated there 1991. The work, on high quality heavy watercolor paper, measures 25 3/4" by 20" (29" by 23" in oak frame, glass is available but should probably be removed for shipping). This was acquired in Connecticut. I thought it possibly by Roger Tory Peterson the famed Connecticut painter of birds and nature subjects but the signature does not correspond with his signature. This can be enjoyed as simply a skillfully painted watercolor, amazing in the detail and effort required to render a compelling image of a subject as common as a decomposing stick on the forest floor. Condition is excellent.
