An example of a naïve or "primitive" landscape painting in the Hudson River School style, 23 1/2" by 30", (30" by 36" in old frame), unsigned as is typical, circa late 19th or possibly even very early 20th century. The painting has all the elements of such paintings----the feathery trees, cottage with quaint smoke from a chimney, a lone figure in foreground, small distant boats, distant mountain. The condition is very good; seems that the painting was apparently relined at some time in the mid 20th century (see close-up of edge). Found in southern Pennsylvania. Frame has a few missing areas. Presently stored on the East Coast, in Connecticut. Buyer can pick up or professional shipping can be arranged. S
