This is an example of one of the very finely printed serigraphs on quality paper, featuring the classic Navajo textiles, issued in a series in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the 1980's by noted artist, scholar and collector JACK SILVERMAN (1940-). Silverman issued the prints at a time when collector interest in fine Navajo textiles was reaching new heights. He is known worldwide as an authority on Native American textiles, history and culture. High quality inks and paper, and a highly technical and demanding silkscreening process result in the fine detail and three-dimensional, life-like appearance of the blanket. This framed example is in excellent condition. It appears that the mat is foam board that has been laid over it. I believe this is as many of the Silverman prints were originally issued. The artist sells the prints currently (presumably, unsigned) for $2,500 or $3,000 on his website. Measurements are 19" by 28" inside the mat and 27 1/2" by 36 1/2" framed.
