Two fine engravings, one featuring a portrait of George Washington, the other a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, each framed and measuring 12 1/4" by 9 3/4". The Lincoln portrait is signed in tiny letters "M. W. Baldwin 1916". These are similar to the images that have appeared on US currency, and the very high quality type of printing (intaglio?) is possibly/likely the same process. These were produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, either as printing proofs, or perhaps as official souvenirs to be sold in a gift shop setting----the Bureau's name is printed at the bottom of each. The detail is extremely crisp and sharp. Interesting Americana. See another set in my shop, very similar, featuring the White House and Mount Vernon.
