A rare opportunity to acquire an **original painting** by SALLY HUSS (1940-), California-based contemporary artist who, quite simply, for decades now has been producing a vast quantity of art that people just like owning and living with. Her art has been reproduced countless times, from prints to greeting cards, t-shirts, ceramics, and numerous other surfaces, and it is with that reproduced art that people are familiar. Her original works seem to be much more scarce. This piece is painted with watercolor, gouache, and perhaps some oil or acrylic. The sheet measures 30" by 22" (36" by 29" in white ribbed framing). Sally signed it in pencil at lower right. It is in excellent condition. The artist, according to her informative and detailed website, is also known as an author of countless books (including many children's books) on countless subjects, and as a serious tennis player. A Los Angeles Times 1992 article viewable online discusses how her husband Marv, a former Hallmark executive, used his skills acquired there to promote Sally's artworks, using modern marketing strategies. At one point she had established a string of successful commercial galleries in Laguna Beach, Santa Monica and La Jolla, and twenty others across the country---even a few overseas, in Japan and Switzerland. The appeal of her art, often coupled with whimsical or folksy sayings, appears to be universal.
