A very attractive floral still life, 30" by 24" (37" by 31" framed), quite light and airy with white predominating, signed at lower right by an artist I believe to be from California. The name is difficult to read. In the past I have encountered other works by this artist and was able to finally learn the artist's name after it was written clearly on a stretcher of one particular work. After jotting down the name, I promptly misplaced the information--and have been unable to come up with the name again. As I recall he was listed in the Davenports reference work and elsewhere. This is possibly the most attractive work by this artist that I have seen. Resembles still life paintings by well known painters such as Marcel Dyf, or the so-called "Wally Findlay" artists. Condition is excellent; just some foxing to the reverse side, perhaps from having been stored for a time in a damp area.
