A still life oil on canvas featuring red roses on a table top, 12" by 18" (" by " framed), signed on the reverse and dated there 1901 by Massachusetts artist of the famous Fall River School, BRYANT CHAPIN (1859-1927). Chapin's still life works of fruit, his specialty, have auctioned into five figures. The artist was born in Fall River and spent his life there, becoming a prominent member of the art colony. This example, found in Maine, is a beautiful example of the artist's work. The painting is in generally very good condition, with stable craquelure present; frame has some chipping loss.
