An old oil on wood panel painting of a peaceful stream running through a wooded area, unsigned, 9 1/4" by 13", unframed. The work is obviously by a talented hand, probably a listed artist had he/she signed it. The oval artist's materials stamp on reverse of panel and the work itself suggests a date of circa 1900, maybe 1910. The oil needs some attention from a restorer to fully expose its original beauty. There is moderate soiling, inconsistent varnish, some light abrasions, maybe a little overpaint especially at top left corner, and a horizontal scratch at lower left. All of these issues are easily remedied by any competent restorer of paintings. The panel is slightly bowed.
