An oil on canvas painting 25" by 19" simply framed, the subject an artistic-license compilation of the famous classic sights of San Francisco, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and a cable car, signed at lower right in English by well listed Chinese painter KEE FUNG NG (1941-). This is a highly impressionistic work, vigorously painted with palette knife, in generally good condition (some "alligatoring" of the paint in some areas including the signature area), and two modest areas of missing paint at far left above bridge deck, the largest less than an inch in length, (though appearing as large in the close-up photo) and approximately one inch flaked area in the water at right, all showing as white spots. Ng was born in China and graduated from art school in Canton in 1960. By 1968 he had made his way to America, establishing himself in San Francisco's Chinatown, where he gained rapid recognition from collectors. In the 1970's and early 1980's, collectable plate series featuring these paintings of "Children of Aberdeen" (an area of Hong Kong) were widely distributed. The artist is now retired. An original sheet affixed to the reverse summarizes the biography of the artist at the time this was painted in the late 1960's or early 1970's. See another more refined work by Ng in my shop, one of his coveted paintings of young Chinese girls.
