Offered together as a pair, two hand signed color offset prints of marine wildlife, each with signed ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR DRAWINGS in the margins, by the internationally known artist ROBERT WYLAND (born 1956). The smaller print, (25" by 19 1/2"), of the whales, is titled "Saving Whales" at lower center margin, and is numbered 9/45 at lower left margin. The larger print (33 1/2" by 25 1/4") is of dolphins is numbered in gold paint 89/300 at lower left corner. Both prints have some condition issues as they have traveled evidently unframed and exposed---faults include stubbed corners and short margin tear (the smaller print) and stubbed corners, margin soiling, a small paper loss on the larger one, and a sticky type foreign substance within the image area (generally the top portion) on the larger print. The two prints are not in pristine condition, but the original drawings in the margin more than make up for that. They are absolutely original works of art in and of themselves, and they have both escaped any damage. Wyland original paintings can go for thousands in commercial galleries, and drawings are also scarce and desirable. The artist was born in Detroit but after a childhood trip to the California coast at Laguna Beach, he was completely taken with the ocean and oceanic life. By 1977 he had moved to Laguna and within twenty years had created an enormous and very successful, multiple-location commercial business featuring his art, including licensed merchandise. He became known for his "Whaling Walls" of marine life painted on the sides of buildings in many cities. The Wyland Foundation is devoted to marine life conservation and education. ASK FOR MORE PHOTOS AS THE NINE ALLOWED DO NOT PERMIT A FULL ILLUSTRATION OF THE CONDITION ISSUES.
