Offered together as a pair, impressionist paintings of traditional landscapes of the Philippines, each signed in a corner and dated in the late 1970's by noted Manila area impressionist EDDIE SARMIENTO (1940-). Sarmiento, born in Malabon, studied at the University of Santo Tomas, majoring in advertising. He established a gallery in Quezon City and was a familiar "Mabini" artist, painting since the 1960's for tourists and commercial clients. Most works feature traditional scenes of the islands, in an impressionist hand. Sarmiento had several sons, one of whom is also an artist. The paintings are unframed and measure 9" by 12". The bluish scene has a very small horizontal tear in the sky, less than 1/4" in length. The regular size should make it easy to find suitable frames.
