This is a pair of typical works of the California-associated artist who went by the "copyright brush name" of "MIMI JOY" (real name Mabel C. Heyde, according to the Hughes' dictionary of artists in California). They are executed in pastel (or, oil pastel?) and measure 5 3/4" by 5 3/4" in original white circa 1950's framing. There is a label of the artist on the reverse backing of one. The artist's style is easily recognizable, as she consistently produced floral works in pastel, generally of small size, and all boldly signed in this manner. I have owned a number of them over the years and they are popular. This pair is in excellent condition.
