An impressionistic andscape painting of a cottage by a pond in the spring, circa 1960's or 1970's, a flowering tree providing color as geese enter a pond. The unframed work measures 16" by 20" and is signed at lower right by artist KAROLY SINKA (1934-) The style is very reminiscent of Hungarian painter Laszlo Neogrady (1896-1962) and also of Hungarian painter Dande (1911-). The canvas is a bit sunken-in on the stretcher at upper left, there is some frame abrasion/residue at left (that would be hidden by framing) and a small pressure dimple, which is lost in the detail at right center. The regular size should make it easy to find a ready-made attractive frame. A circular official export or tax stamp is visible on the reverse canvas. According to information kindly forwarded by a collector/dealer who owns a work by the artist, Sinka was born in 1934. He attended the Academy of Budapest, and while still young, he was afforded a one-man show in that city. Sinka is known mostly for landscape but a wide range of subject matter is known.
