Two charcoal figure drawings, each 15 3/4" by 9", framed together (24" by 28" tastefully matted and framed), the male drawing signed at lower right by the noted American cartoonist and illustrator HAROLD H. KNERR (1882-1949). These are likely academic student works perhaps executed around the year 1900. Knerr's career accelerated in the early years of the new century. He went on to take over the popular "Katzenjammer Kids" comic strip during the World War I years (hired by William Randolph Hearst) and drew it until his death in 1949. These drawings are in excellent fresh condition despite their age. On the reverse is a clipping from a 1982 newspaper article, mentioning Knerr. Allow for some reflections in the glass.
