A decorative print, 27" by 23 1/2" in its white wood frame with blue inner fillet, after the painting "Blue Bouquet" by the important modern French artist BERNARD BUFFET (1928-1999). The painting was produced in 1957, so the print likely dates to the late 1950's or early 1960's. There are light scratches at lower right measuring about 4", and some small loss areas at upper left showing as white spots. These are not major issues when viewed casually from normal viewing distance, and if they trouble you, they can be carefully inpainted with a little watercolor by a talented hand. Buffet the artist needs little introduction. His spiky, black-outlined works, featuring a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, clowns, and still life, have been popular with art lovers since the 1950's. Of late, the unprecedented recent auction records from $300,000 to nearly $800,000 attest to the dramatically growing popularity of his work. This will fit nicely into your Mid Century interior.
