A PAIR of framed watercolor and ink original drawings, likely American origin, featuring a number of delicate flowers, including forget-me-nots, pansies, and small roses, a gray butterfly at upper right on one adding a delicate touch. The works, unsigned, were likely executed circa 1860 give or take twenty years. Framed, they are similar in size but not exactly matching: one measures 14 3/4 by 12 1/2", the other, 13 1/2" by 12 1/2. One is meant to be viewed vertically, the other horizontally. There are old ornate hand-drawn mats, some of which shows some wear (see the wide blue strip at left). The newer framing has general wear and some small losses to the denticles, and one drawing has a small foxing spot at lower left center. I have several similar works in my shop. A few moisture droplets on the outside of the glass, from cleaning , remained on the glass when photos were taken.
