Oil on canvas painting of a young woman seen in 3/4 view, signed at upper left (incised) illegibly and dated there '90. The work measures 10 1/2" by 8" (16" by 14" framed). I opened the backing to see if there was any more information on the talented artist but was stymied by the foamboard being partially affixed to the canvas. The framer's stamp, very faint, is from Alamagordo in southern New Mexico. Attempts to read the signature were not successful; to me the handwriting seems to be possibly German, but that is just a guess. Note the beautiful, skilled handling of the light, the composition, and paint. Though contemporary, the painting draws on the ages of art history preceding its creation.
