A fine autumn landscape painting on old Winsor & Newton art board, 10" by 13 3/4" (19 1/2" by 23 1/2" in the old frame), signed at lower right by the well known American impressionist painter DUBOIS FENELON HASBROUCK (1860-1934), titled on the reverse in pencil "November Woodland by D. F. Hasbrouck". This is an atmospheric little painting by a highly talented artist, the works of whom have brought to nearly $10,000 at auctions. He specialized in sensitively conceived and painted landscape works, including forest interiors and woodlands, depicted in all seasons, in both watercolor and oil. In the 1880's and 1890's, Hasbrouck exhibited at the Brooklyn Academy, National Academy of Design, Boston Art Club, and Art Institute of Chicago. This painting was recently professionally cleaned, and is in excellent display condition. The old heavy frame is very complementary and is also in excellent condition. We can almost hear the cracking of the twigs of the woodland floor broken by the steps of the lone tiny figure at center.
